My dream house

My dream house would be 100.000 square feet. It would be near the sea and have a private beach.
Outside, I’d like to have many fun activities: a private kart racing track, a huge garden with many different species of trees and a big swimming pool with swimming boards. I would also have a huge heated swimming-pool with jacuzzi and sauna. I would like to have a private tennis court, a basketball field and a bowling track to have fun with my friends! Inside the big garage, I would have my private car collection, with Ferraris, Porches and Aston Martins too.
My dream house would have advanced technology like automatic lights, intelligent appliances, speakers everywhere and portable touch pads to control everything.
Inside the house I would like to have twenty rooms with private bathrooms to invite my friends. The house would have a big library, a private room cinema and a big game room.
Of course this mansion would be very expensive and I would need many employees! It would be so great that I wouldn’t go out to work!

Astérix & Obélix: Mission Cleopatre

Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatra, originally titled Astérix & Obélix: Mission Cléopâtre, is a 2002 french film based on the comic book "Astérix et Cléopatre" written by René Goscinny and drawn by Albert Uderzo.

The film was directed by Alain Chabat and starred Gerard Depardieu, Christian Clavier and Monica Bellucci. It sold 14 557 020 tickets in France.

My favorite character was Jules César because of his intelligence, his military skills and his humoristic appearances along the movie. He, along the movie, also revealed being an opportunist, wise and life-experienced man. I conclude this due to many sentences that he says along the movie: “Alea jacta est” , “Veni, vidi, vinci” and “Civis pacem parabellum”.
I didn´t identify with Amonbofis because he is a calculist man that only cares about money and power.

The movie relies on layers of cultural jokes, many of them from the original graphic novels by Goscinny and Uderzo. Besides those jokes, more were added by the screenwriters, including many references to current popular culture: César’s military commander, Caius Suplicius, parodies Darth Vader and three workers parodied the rock band ZZ Top. Some jokes require aknowledge of French society, habits, etc. while others make use of the historical setting for humorous effect.

My favorite part of the story was when Astérix, Obélix and Panoramix escaped from Cleopatra’s prison. It happened this way:

«Obélix says to the prison guard (that is sat right in front of the door):
“Get out of there. We´re goin’ out.”
The prison guard thinks he is bluffing and aswers ironically:
“Yes, right. By the way, when you return could you bring me a pack of …”
BANG!!!!! Obélix kicks the door and it smashes the prison guard. Obélix says:
“This Egyptians are crazy!! We tell them go out and they stay in the same place!”»

I also loved it when Obélix broke the sphinx nose. I wouldn’t like to change the story in anyway.

I disliked it when the movie ended. WHAT A SHAME!!!

Virtual Reality

A few weeks ago, a momentous occasion occurred in my household: my parents finally decided to install the internet. My younger siblings were ecstatic. The fact that a wealth of information was now available at the click of a mouse was not what excited them, though; it was the realization that along with the Internet would come the bonus of having America Online’s Instant Messenger (IM).
Our lives have changed. Instead of reading books or playing outside, my brother and sisters are permanently glued to our computer, “chatting” with their friends and acquaintances. The other night, while I was doing research on the web, my younger sister demanded that I let her use the computer, saying she had to “make plans”.
Whatever happened to making a few phone calls?
Situations like this exasperate me. Why form relationships online? Don’t a person’s facial expressions, emotions and tone of voice make up a big part of his or her personality? When I see the TV commercial with the girl saying, “I love having Instant Messenger, it lets me be myself”, I wonder home someone can be herself while hiding behind a computer screen. When did teenagers become so shy that they cannot show their personalities in face-to-face conversation?
I hope our techno society can return to the old forms of communication-talking in person or on the phone. While I still get the “You have got to be kidding me” look from my siblings when I say email instead of IM, I am glad that for me, the personal computer is not a place to form shallow relationships, but one of education and information.

“You’ve Got Mail”

A few weeks ago our English class saw a movie called “You’ve Got Mail”.This comic movie talks about two apparently totally different persons, Kathleen and Joe.
Kathleen has a boyfriend but talk very often with a pen pal named NY512. They talk about everything, New York city, books, movies, really everything! What Katy doesn’t know is that her NY512 is, in fact, her biggest rival when it comes to book selling. Why book selling? Kathleen has a small book store here she can connect whit the costumers and even make friends. In the other hand, Joe has a lots of huge stores where all that matters is selling and having a big offer.
The movie is taken to a hole new level when Joe decides to open one of his stores in Kathleen‘s block and threading to ruin her store. Without knowing how he really is, she keeps emailing NY512 and getting really close to him. That’s when they decide to set a date. Joe appears and finds out who is his pen pal really is.
In the end of the movie Joe sets up a new and reveals him self. Kathleen forgives him and it all turned out ok.

Plot

In Venice, Italy, John Bridger (Donald Sutherland) calls his daughter Stella Bridger (Charlize Theron) and tells her that he is participating in what will be his final heist. John then meets up with Charlie Croker (Mark Wahlberg) before setting the heist into motion. Their team consists of themselves and four others: an “inside man”, a get away driver, an explosives expert and a technical expert. The heist is a success, but one of them, Steve, betrays them all by taking the gold for himself; he also kills john Bridger and leaves the rest of the team for dead.
A year later back in the United States, Stella is using her safecracking expertise to break into vaults as an assistant to the police. The team has tracked Steve down, and Charlie recruits Stella to participate with the team in stealing the gold from Steve since she has the required skill and motivation.
The team travels to Los Angeles, California to begin their surveillance of Steve's house and plan the heist. Meanwhile, Steve attempts to sell his gold through a money launderer, but kills him when the launderer begins asking questions about the source of the gold. However, the money launderer is a cousin of a local Ukrainian gangster, who seeks vengeance for his cousin's murder.
Stella has a lot of problems to deal with…
